Merchants Millpond State Park (North Carolina)
Kayak Merchants Millpond, one of North Carolina’s rarest ecological coastal swamp environments, virtually unchanged over millions of years. Massive Cypress and Gum trees covered in Spanish Moss form a breathtaking canopy for the dark waters of this 200 year old 750 acre cypress millpond. You will want to keep your eyes open for sightings of beavers, owls, native birds, otter, deer and the park’s most elusive resident, the American Alligator.
“Wonderful Guided Trip”
Customer service all around was wonderful! From initial inquiry about types of kayaking trips and length (knowing we’re fairly experienced kayakers), to follow-up questions, to the weather check coming in from out-of-state, everything was wonderful! Kevin was very knowledgeable about the area and very accommodating. I think he would make a trip what you need it to be, as long as you had reasonable expectations. If I get the opportunity to get out that way again, I would definitely take another of his tours. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
